Children's Books

"A child sees you as ten feet tall, so all of your words are big, never small." Justine Andollo

Writing through the eyes of a child........

I began writing short stories in the sixth grade (which was in 1981 for those of you who were wondering!) I love to write. It is my greatest passion, other than my children of course. About 6 years ago I started writing children's books. Remembering my childhood and the things that made me happy, then incorporating my children's ideas in the mix.

To date, I have completed five picture books that I am currently beginning the process of trying to get published. I am also working on a middle grade novel, as well as a Young Adult Novel.

PICTURE BOOKS:

Duck Tape  A Story about a Dizzy the Duck who believes he is going to be turned into tape and leaves the farm on an adventure.

Saving Mr. Blinky The story of a little boy who does not want to let go of his favorite stuffed animal and teaches his mother a valuable lesson at the same time

Sophie and the Sugar Nuggets A group of girls who solve the problems of different characters. The  first book is Searching for the Lost Crown.

Sunny the Skinny Bunny A collection of stories about a skinny bunny that is far skinnier than the other bunnies. In this first book he meets Honey the chubby bunny and they form a lasting friendship.

Nico and the Night Explorers Another collection of stories about a group of little boys that meet every night in their dreams and explore the world.

Middle Grade

Nerd Herd  A novel about a group of middle school boys who don't fit in, but each have an amazing gift which they attempt to hone on their journey towards high school.  A comical look at the awkwardness of middle school.

Young Adult

Kendall Moss  A novel about a high school senior who is preparing for a summer in New York City. When she arrives in the city, through a series of chance encounters,  she finds out that everything she knew about her family is a lie.

Uno  Young Alejandro (Alex), an immigrant from Guatemala, lives with his family in a tiny house. His father works three jobs and his mother works as a housekeeper, but they barely get by. Through a series of trials and tribulations, valuable lessons are learned about the true kindness of the human spirit. The greatest gifts come from where you least expect.

Forest for the Trees  In 1967 North Florida, Gwendolyn was in love and truly happy until one fateful night, when she never made it home. For 25 years, her bones remained buried in the woods waiting for someone to find them and set her free. She has no memory of that night and until the truth is revealed, she remains trapped somewhere in-between this life and the next. Filled with accusations, theories, love and heartache.

The Fate of Kate  Kate has a pretty good life. Pretty good. Yet, at 28, she feels like something's missing and she believes that if she could only go back and change the way she was in high school, she would be on a far different path. A better path. One Friday evening, while she and her two best friends (Tristan and Clark) were having their ritual week-ending espressos, Tristan takes Kate to a crazy little shop with a crazy little owner who gives her tea which she says will give Kate the clarity she needs. With the rules in hands, she drinks the first bag before bed and wakes up back in her old bed, 16 again ... except everything is different. Over the next twelve nights, she struggles to figure out how to get back to the life she took for granted. The grass is not always greener.  This is a Quantum Leap meets Peggy Sue Got Married story!
